The Ranieri Suite takes its name from Cardinal Teodorico Ranieri (1235 – 1306), Camerlengo of the Santa Romana Church and Captain General of the Heritage Province in 1300, who built the palace of the same name with a medieval tower adjacent to Palazzo Piccolomini.

The Febei family has been present in Orvieto since the mid-1200s and its members have always held important roles in this city. The last parental bond was with the Piccolomini family, from this union the Piccolomini-Febei family was born.
